Arsenal Has No Intention To Sell Bernd Leno In January Transfer Window

Frustrations are mounting for Bernd Leno, who has not been getting much playing time with Arsenal.

Despite his predicament, the 29-year-old goalkeeper will just have to wait until next summer to figure out what the future holds.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, the name of the German shot-stopper has been floated in transfer rumors.

Unfortunately for Leno, the Gunners have no intention of dealing him away in January according to a report from The Athletic.

Hence, all Leno can do right now is wait for his number to be called.

He was dropped by the Gunners after conceding nine goals in his first three games this season for Arsenal.

Aaron Ramsdale has since taken over from the German. Considering that the 23-year-old has been proving himself to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Leno’s chance to reclaim the first-choice goalkeeper nod may take some time.

This would be bad news for the German player considering he is at an age where he should be playing more than being on the sidelines.

Leno has his sights set for a spot on the German national team that will compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

But for the German shot-stopper to earn a spot, he needs to be on the field rather than sitting on the bench.

Leno has barely been used the last three months, but reports claim that Arteta has no plans of letting him go.

There are speculations that the ex-Leverkusen goalie may play against Sunderland in the quarterfinal of the cup next month.

Before word got out that Arteta has no intention of dealing away Leno, most speculated that stint to be his last for the Gunners.

The Spanish coach is aware of how disappointed Leno is, but Arteta stressed that the German should use it as motivation to take his game to the next level.

“What he needs to do is raise his level. He is going to raise Aaron’s level and if Aaron is performing really well, a big part of that is because Bernd is next to him, trying to help him, trying to support him, and trying to make him a better goalkeeper. That is exactly what we want,” Arteta explained in an interview.
