But the stage will be set for the iWatch by the time the iOS 8 is to be made public. Developers can get their hands on the iOS 8 right now but the rest of the world has to wait for its official release that would be two months from now.

The upgrade to the iOS 8 will have a few changes. iOS 8 is a free download and will be available in the coming months. It will also be available for iPhone 6 and the iWatch.

The iOS will be compatible with the iPhone 4S and newer versions of the iPhone and also the iPad 2 that will get upgrades to the iOS 8. iPhone 4 is the only one not included in the list. Upgrades will also be available for the iPad mini, iPad 2, iPod fifth generation.

Touch ID for all

With this new upgrade all apps will use biometric scanning instead of passcodes. Only the iPhone 5S had this feature now Touch ID will apply to the iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 later this year. During the developers conference Paypal developers were present at the Touch ID session this could only mean that online transactions may be complete with the touch home button when upgraded to iOS 8.

The Touch ID will be more secure than passwords as it will protect personal sensitive data. The iOS 8 will scan credit cards through the iPhone and iPad camera and automatically fill in data making online shopping easier. Moreover the biometric information is locked in the A7 processor.

iOS 8 camera

The iPhone camera is the most used because of its sharpness and ease. The iOS 8 camera will be even better. This was accomplished by adding the time lapse mode to help users capture extended moments and speed up video with higher frame rate.

SMS and phone calls on Mac

Messaging across the iOS device and Mac will be easy. Text messages and Phone calls can now be handled through the Macs. But this would become possible if the Mac is upgraded to the OSX Yosemite and Macs are getting this upgrade for free that will be available the same time the iOS is released.

Wi-Fi Hotspot and Handoff

The iOS 8 and Yosemite will be joined at the hip letting the user pickup where he left off between the devices. When a email is started on an iPad or iPhone it can be finished on the Mac without any hassels.

Group video and voice messages

The iOS 8 has new features that can mute a person on the group chat or drop people with the do not disturb.

Message location sharing

This will get better with iMessages including the multimedia that would be very useful with the iOS 8 upgrade.

Interactive notifications

Notifications can be handled easily from the lock screen with this feature with a few simple taps.

Keyboard and extensions

iOS 8 has the smartest keyboard as it has a quick type feature and predictive text same as Swift key.

Overall, the iOS 8 will be an upgrade to wait for as it has plenty of new features compiled into it like the split screen, new iCloud features, Health apps, Passbook and many more. Apple will make the announcement during the unveiling of the iPhone 6. The upgrades will be available to the user on iTunes.
