ANZ is launching a banking app for the Apple iPhone. The release comes shortly after it offered a trial service to allow customers to make credit card payments through the use of a mobile phone.

In a report from IT News, the new ANZ app lets users put money into the Australian bank account of another person with only the use of a mobile phone. The IT News report also said that the new ANZ app is the first product that allows customers to deposit money into the account of a third party without even knowing the account number.

Called goMoney, the new ANZ app went on sale on the iPhone store last August 27. The release came after nearly a year of development for the app.

However, the IT News report said that handsets that have been jailbroken would not be able to take advantage of the service.

The news comes on the heels of an announcement Commonwealth Bank, which, earlier this month, released an iPhone app that allows users to calculate home loan repayments for properties.
