Max Greenfield is joining “American Horror Story” Season 5. Over three thousand users hit the “favourite” button when Ryan Murphy made this recent announcement on Twitter.

In his Twitter post (see below), “American Horror Story” creator and showrunner said the viewers will see a different Max Greenfield in the series. The post got two thousand retweets from Murphy’s followers. (This is on top of the three thousand “favourites,” which is similar to “like” or thumbs-up on Facebook.)

In his own Twitter feed, Greenfield thanked Murphy for the good news. Greenfield is set to join Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson and Matt Bomer in the popular series from FX. “American Horror Story” is highly praised by both critics and regular viewers.

Jessica Lange, who won multiple awards for playing four characters in all the previous seasons of “American Horror Story,” is not returning. At this year’s PaleyFest in Los Angeles, Lange said she enjoyed “the insanity of shooting” ASH.

In the same panel, Bomer was not sure yet about his character’s connection to Lady Gaga. The fifth season is titled, “Hotel.” Hence, Murphy tweeted Greenfield is “checkin in.”

Greenfield is currently playing the quirky and sexually active Schmidt on “New Girl,” a comedy series starring Zooey Deschanel. Fox renewed the show for a fifth season on March 31. FX ordered “American Horror Story” Season 5 as early as October 2014.
