The AMD Phenom II X6 1075T six-core CPU, the fastest among the six new chips announced Tuesday, will sell for $250 per 1,000 units. Its Intel counterpart, the Core i7-970 processor, sells for $885 per 1,000 units as indicated on the company's website.

The Phenom II X6 1075T runs at 3GHz and has a 3MB of L2 cache and 6MB of L3 cache. It has a thermal design power of 125W.

AMD also announced new Black Edition quad-cores, the $185 Phenom II X4 970 BE and the $105 Phenom II X2 560. The X4 970 BE runs at 3.5GHz and has a 2MB of L2 and 6MB of L3 cache. The X2 560's frequency is 3.3GHz with a 6MB of cache memory.

The cheapest among the new CPUs is the dual-core Athlon II X2 265 priced at $76. It runs at 3.3GHz and includes 2MB of cache.

Also unveiled were the Athlon II X3 450 triple-core with a 3.2 GHz frequency and 1.5MB of L2 cache priced $87 and the Athlon II, the X4 645 quad-core that runs at 3.1 GHz and includes a 2MB of L2 cache selling for $122.
