Toronto Raptors star Kyle Lowry does not expect to play Game 4 of the ongoing conference semi-finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. After missing Friday's Game 3 loss with an ankle sprain, the point guard did not practice Saturday and effectively ruled himself out of the remainder of the 2017 NBA Playoffs unless his team can extend the series to a Game 5 back in Cleveland.

"I'm probably doubtful, honestly. I don't think I'll be able to play. ... It's not looking great, but I'm not giving up on it," Lowry said after Saturday's practice session. Lowry will decline his Player Option and become an unrestricted free agent when 2017 NBA Free Agency commences July 1.

If he does not return to the court, Lowry has possibly played his last game in a Raptors uniform. Though league insiders expect Lowry to re-sign with the team on a five-year max extension, some have speculated the possibility of Raptors hitting the reset button and building around their younger players.

Kyle Lowry doesn’t expect to be cleared

Though Lowry said he was not "giving up hope" of getting a clean chit from team doctors before Sunday's 3:30 p.m. ET (5:30 a.m. Monday AEST) tipoff, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported the floor general will not be helping him team in its effort to make history. No other team in NBA history has returned from a 3-0 series deficit since the playoffs moved to the best-of-seven series format.

The 31-year-old guard suffered the sprained ankle during Wednesday's Game 2. Lowry tried to return for Friday's Game 3 but wasn't cleared in time. "It was close (on Friday), but I think I made it worse by trying to work out a few times. I aggravated it a little bit more trying to out there and trying to do things, turn and jump and run. So it's sorer today."

The Cleveland Cavaliers are just one win away from reaching their third consecutive conference finals. They will await the winner of the ultra-competitive second-round series between the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates surrounding the 2017 NBA Playoffs.
