Anime has influenced many people in ways that have proven to be positive. The Wachowskis borrowed heavily from various anime elements to make “The Matrix,” which ended up becoming a blockbuster trilogy. Now, four film students have decided to make a new anime-inspired isometric card-based tactical game known as “Zeta Busters,” which is free to download for anyone interested in trying out the game for him or herself.

The game’s story revolves around four warriors who are on a mission to stop an evil overlord, named Dr. Bellbotula from taking over the world with his army of robotic Zetas, hence the title “Zeta Busters.” The focus on stopping a robot army evokes a good number of anime series’ like “Astro Boy,” with the addition of four protagonists instead of one.

According to Siliconera, battles play out on a fiels, in which movements and attacks are limited to a certain number of actions. This style of gameplay is very reminiscent of “Final Fantasy Tactics” and the “Disgaea” series from Nipon Ichi Software.

That being said, “Zeta Busters” does have a few things that make it different from other games of the same genre. The most important feature being a special disk system, that unleash special attacks and involve precise button presses. This feature allows the player’s characters to do more damage and help conserve movement and attack points.

“Zeta Busters” has been in production for quite sometime and was originally called “Sentry Squad” before the four developers decided to change the name of the game. The four developers call themselves Team Party Size and consist of Charles Park, Melvin Kwan, Justin Ostensen and Brian Yich.

Team Party Size has been providing various news updates of “Zeta Busters” through the game’s official Facebook page. Before the game came out, the developers would provide screenshots of the game, as well as productions notes through the team’s Wordpress.

Now fans of tactical roleplaying games can download “Zeta Busters” right now for the price of nothing. Currently, the title supports Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers, along with Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP2.
