Former One Direction member Zayn Malik was one of the celebrities who commented on the controversial police-killing issue which involved two black Americans who were identified to be Alton Sterling from Louisiana and Philando Castile from Minnesota. The British singer deleted a tweet in response to the #BlackLivesMatter propaganda when he was called out by a Twitter user.

According to Perez Hilton, the 23-year-old recording artist was criticized along with celebrities Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift for "appropriating Black culture while refusing to denounce police brutality." The post in particular read, "Meanwhile, these non-black celebrities who use black culture to their benefit haven't addressed police brutality."

"Meanwhile, I'm brown myself and understand it's nothing to do with police brutality. It's about minority's equality," Zayn responded in a tweet. His post was taken negatively and the singer was criticised for implying that racism should be blamed for the shootings instead of police brutality. Hollywood Life wrote that the fans who were offended questioned Zayn and told him that he should not have made such a comment on a sensitive topic.

The same Twitter user who made the post against Zayn and other celebrities managed to capture a screenshot of the "Pillow Talk" singer's tweet before he deleted it. The screenshot was posted and shared in other social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr.

“Love HUMANS!” Zayn said in a tweet when criticisms from the social media site began flooding him. The user who took a screenshot of his controversial post tweeted that "all lives matter" in reply. So far, the Twitter war has quietened down.

The #BlackLivesMatter movement started when concerned netizens began seeking justice for the death of 37-year-old Alton Sterling and 37-year-old Philando Castile. The two were shot by the police then beaten to death by a Baton Rouge.
