Music Mogul Simon Cowell said that One Direction will continue as a four-member band. He accepted that Zayn Malik’s departure was a surprise, but the band did not have any intention of recruiting a new member. One Direction will continue its tours and reinvent themselves to remain relevant always.

Zayn’s departure from One Direction was a shock for fans all over the world. There were rumours that Zayn had a personality clash with other band members which made him take this drastic step. Songwriter Jamie Scott who was close to Zayn has dismissed rumours of a falling out. He told Sunday People that Zayn was tired of the endless touring and relentless promotion drives, which left him with no time for family, friends and simple pleasures in life. This revelation may end the endless fan conspiracy theories about the real reason for Zayn’s departure.

Scott also said that One Direction would not break up as long as they keep reinventing their music. "As long as the music is not dying and they're crossing over to older fans, there is no reason to break up and they want to go on and keep the ride going," he said. He reiterated that the next album would not be a drastic departure from their current styles and squashed rumours that they would be doing a hip hop album.

On the other hand Simon Cowell did not anticipate the sudden departure of Zayn. In his interview with Good Morning Britain, he spoke of Zayn’s need for leading life as a “normal 22-year old.” But the band has accepted his departure and are enjoying their gruelling tour schedule. Zayn, on the other hand, has not commented on his future plans. Rumours persist that he is collaborating with songwriter Naughty Boy for a hip hop album, but fans continue to speculate on his future moves.
