Funimation Films released the official new trailer for anime series “Your Name” in English. The promotional clip shows how the lives of city boy Taki and country girl Mitsuha will be connected in some extraordinary ways.

Fans in the United States finally get an idea of how the upcoming anime would look like. The trailer introduces basic plot and prepares the viewers for the emotional side of the story. The trailer revealed that the anime series would depict the lives of two teenagers as they encounter a mysterious event bound to change their lives.

Director Makoto Shinkai took care of the directorial task for the anime with a script that he also wrote. He also took charge of cinematography and editing of the film.

The anime film has become the highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan, reaching the US$148 million (AU$195 million) box office milestone after 52 days on release. It has become the second-largest gross for a domestic film in Japan after “Spirited Away,” and the fourth-largest ever behind “Titanic” and “Frozen.”

It played in America for a week in 2016 in order to qualify for the Academy Awards. On April 7, the anime will finally get a proper stateside welcome per Dark Horizons.

CoMix Wave Films took care of the animation of the series, and was distributed by Toho. It premiered at the Anime Expo 2016 convention in Los Angeles, California as well as in Japan last year. Anime Expo 2016 was licensed by Funimation.

The film centres on the life of Mitsuha, a high school girl from the town of Itomori in Japan's mountainous Hida region. She was bored in life and wished he was a boy from Tokyo.

Taki, on the other hand, is a high school boy from Tokyo. The mystery in both their lives began when they switched bodies. At first, they thought it was a dream and realised it was not. Their friends and family members started to notice that they act strangely.

Mitsuha and Taki communicate with each other by notes in Mitsuha's notebook and memos on Taki's phone. The conflict started to rise when they began intervening in each other’s lives.

The anime film was released by Madman Entertainment in Australian theatres on limited release on Nov. 24, 2016. It was released in both its original Japanese and an English dub. “Your Name” Australian release is yet to be announced.
