Things at “Y&R” are also quite exciting behind the scenes, as the show’s casting director, Judy Blye Wilson, caught everyone in surprise when she announced that she’s leaving the show. In her personal Facebook account, Wilson wrote on July 1 that it’s officially her last day at “The Young and the Restless,” according to a report by Celeb Dirty Laundry. She cleared that she made the decision weeks ago. “After thirty years of casting daytime, I feel I need to pause,” she continued. “I am not retiring, just stopping to catch my breath. I look forward to what the future brings.” Wilson’s departure comes on the heels of the shocking exit of “Y&R” executive producer Jill Farren Phelps.

CBS released a preview video for the July 4 episode of “The Young and the Restless.” The clip opens as Sharon, absolutely distraught, hovers over Mariah, who has lost consciousness. Sharon stammers, “I didn’t mean to hurt you, you know that right? It was her, I had to get rid of her!” Kevin wonders, “Who’s her?”

At the courtroom, Nick is seen tending to Victor on the floor. “We’re having trouble staunching the blood,” Nick says. Jack removes his jacket and tells Nick to use it. “Use this.” Meanwhile, Paul is on the phone and asks, “Where the hell is that ambulance?”

TV Guide reports that on Tuesday’s episode, Sharon gives her word to Mariah about an important matter. Meanwhile, Nick and Victoria back Victor into a corner and make him confess about his plans for revenge. Elsewhere, Paul and Dylan pull out all the stops to rescue Nikki.

Wednesday’s run centres on Billy as his secret is about to come out, while Luca tries to win back Summer. Victor, on the other hand, refuses to back down and launches his all-out offense.

On Thursday, Abby opens up to Ashley about her marriage troubles, while Hilary manages to piss off Jack. Elsewhere, Nick gets concerned about what lies ahead for Newman Enterprises.

Wrapping the week on July 8, Chelsea seeks Kevin’s help to find out the truth behind the mystery woman. Sharon, on the other hand, goes out with Dylan but their romantic moment gets cut short when Nikki walks in on them. Meanwhile, an epic showdown occurs between Adam and Victor.

"The Young and the Restless" recap

Last week, Adam was beside himself as he gears up for the trial. Michael and Kevin walked in and said the woman in the video with Victor could not be identified. Michael wanted to postpone the trial, but Adam said to proceed and get it over with. At the courthouse, Jack told Summer that he thinks Victor has set up Adam. Shortly after, the other arrived, including Nick, Victoria, Adam, Michael, Paul, Christine, Nikki and Dylan. The trial began and Chris and Michael delivered their opening statements. Dylan and Nick took the stand, followed by Ian, who said that Victor boasted about framing Adam. When it was Victor’s turn to testify, he surprised everyone when he said that he loves Adam with all his heart. He turned the tables on Ian and called him a pathological liar. He also denied the accusation of framing Adam and said it was Ian who might have done it. Realising that Victor has veered off the plans, Ian grabbed the bailiff’s gun and aimed it at Nikki. However, he shot Victor instead and took Nikki as hostage. Everyone was in shock when they learned that Victor has been shot.
