Amid the ongoing storylines of long-running CBS daytime TV drama “The Young and the Restless” (“Y&R”), it recently surprised fans when it launched a new logo.

On its Facebook page, the American soap changed its distinct red and white logo into one with white background and black and gold text. Fans immediately shared their thoughts in the comment section, with some expressing disapproval of the new version.

Facebook user Stephanie Stewart wrote, “Hope the logo/font isn’t changing to this – I prefer the classy/professional previous version. This reminds me of either a child’s handwriting or the Disney-style of writing.”

A fan named Palmer Sorrel commented, “It is a crappy logo for a show [which has] been on the air [for] over forty years. Like what they had and if it’s not broke why they trying to fix it?” Another, Brenda J Benavides, had this to say: “Sorry, but I don’t like this logo. The original is better, classier… simply put, I prefer the original.” Stella Montgomery, meanwhile, wrote, “Wow, the font in this graphic looks uncharacteristic of this show.”

One fan, Liane Lake-Croft, minced no words when she commented, “Cartoon-like font: though it accurately reflects the joke that this show has become.”

Meanwhile, other followers advised “The Young and the Restless” producers to focus on the storylines instead of the logo. Some even suggested getting new writers to inject fresh topics instead of rehashing old ones.

Facebook user Linda Arndt wrote, “I am a fan from the beginning… I would very much like new writers. The writers have no idea how to start a story, or end a story. Remember this show stayed so long because it had class.” Jeanatta Bland commented, “Oh come on!! New logo… really!? They need to work on the storylines.” Another, Shirley Cranmer, had this to say: “I don’t mind the logo, but I definitely don’t like the same ole same ole storyline played out over and over, even an old washing machine eventually gives out after washing the same ole dirty laundry.”

Other “Y&R” followers chose to think positively, hoping that the logo is just temporary and would be changed back to the original soon.
