Aside from the GIF style profile pic feature, there will also be a special feature that will allow users to upload temporary profile images to commemorate an event or show solidarity for a cause; after which profile picture will revert to the original

Along with the GIF style profile picture feature, Facebook will also allow users to upload temporary images as profile pictures specifically to show your solidarity for a cause or to commemorate an event, after which it reverts to your original profile picture.
