During the game between Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors, a tactical move by Tyson Chandler became controversial. A video of him blocking Stephen Curry trying to pass his teammate Marreese Speights’ left shoe near midcourt has gone viral.

Four minutes and 20 seconds were left in the third quarter during the game held at American Airlines Center on Dec. 13 when Curry ran up the left side of the court, retrieved the shoe out of bounds and tried to toss it to Speights who had yet to cross midcourt. Chandler then changed direction and swatted the shoe.

At the time, the Dallas Mavericks trailed, 77-64, having clawed back from a 28-point deficit from the second quarter.
“I’m doing everything to try to win. I don’t care what it is,” Chandler told The Morning Dallas News.

“If it’s hitting a shoe or hitting whatever it is, I just want to win,” added Chandler who won NBA Defensive Player of the Year when he was still with New York Knicks. He started his NBA career with the Chicago Bulls from 2001 to 2006 before moving to the New Orleans Hornets and the Charlotte Bobcats. He already played for the Dallas Mavericks in 2010 and 2011 but moved to the New York Knicks from 2011 to 2014 and recently returned to the former.
