Last month, Yahoo revealed plans for buying style-tip specialist company Polyvore to tap its loyal consumer base. Now, the company has announced that it has completed its acquisition and aims to be more prominent in the digital advertising space.

“Polyvore has built an excellent team, a category leading product, and a strong business based on a highly engaged community,” said Simon Khalaf, Yahoo’s SVP of Publisher Products, earlier once the company first announced the acquisition.

This acquisition will help Yahoo to sell more ads in its digital magazines mainly focusing on style and beauty as well as enhance consumer offerings. Both Yahoo and Polyvore will work together to drive traffic through native shopping ads. In other words, Polyvore will reinforce Yahoo’s digital magazines and verticals through the integration of community and commerce.

“I’m also excited that we’ll be able to deliver more scale to our advertisers by integrating our ad offerings into Yahoo Gemini,” said Jess Lee, Co-Founder and CEO, Polyvore.

Polyvore is an eight-year-old start-up that specialises in connecting merchants with consumers browsing for ideas on clothing, health, beauty and home decor products. The company has a commendable media experience in exhibiting community-powered content.

Both Yahoo Style and Yahoo Beauty will improve the entire portfolio of Yahoo’s digital magazines and verticals. Khalaf opined that Yahoo’s industry-leading digital content with Polyvore’s expertise in community and commerce has outstanding potential to excel in the business.

Polyvore's established native advertising models and formats will augment Yahoo's fast-growing native advertising platform, Yahoo Gemini. The company also enjoys a strong relationship with more than 350 retailers, which in turn will help Yahoo to make it even bigger in the digital advertising space.

On the other hand, Polyvore’s products and services will continue to function with Yahoo’s support and investment. The Polyvore team will join respective Yahoo offices in Sunnyvale, San Francisco and New York. Polyvore Co-Founder and CEO Jess Lee will directly work with Simon Khalaf, SVP, Product & Engineering, Publisher Products at Yahoo.
