Xiaomi proved before that it can take on tech giants like Samsung and Apple with a more affordable alternative. This time, the company eyes the high end sector with the Redmi Note 2. The Redmi Note still needs to reach other parts of the globe but Chinese sources say that the company has been working on new version already. The reported Redmi Note 2 will pack on powerful hardware challenging Samsung and Apple even more.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the information about the new Redmi Note came from the company's post on Xiaomi's Chinese forums. The Redmi Note will be hitting the Indian market soon. It packs on a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 5.5-inch HD phablet, 13MP camera, 8GB storage and 2GB RAM. It also weighs around 200g. The rear camera sports a 5MP shooter. Reports say that the device will start at Rs 9,999 in India possibly giving more smartphone vendors in the country a run for their money.

Xiaomi has been making great strides towards expanding the distribution of its smartphone. The company has been targeting India as it now considered as one of the fastest and growing smartphone markets. According to Tech Tree, Xiaomi will be putting up Mi3 units on Diwali. Previously, the handset performed well in India breaking sales records as units got sold in a few seconds.

Xiaomi's next big move will be to target the upcoming holiday week. This will be the first time the region will see Xiaomi pushing several phones for sale simultaneously. The company will reportedly release the Redmi 1s with the Mi3 as well. Tech Tree also noted that Xiaomi plans on putting as many as 1 million smartphones for the festival week. This will test if the brand has already started penetrating large markets successfully.

Xiaomi handsets will face off with Note 4 and iPhone 6 releases as well. If the Redmi Note 2 can make it time then it will be a stiff high end battle.
