Xiaomi Redmi 3 is the latest low-priced smartphone from the Chinese brand. The Redmi 2 successor is packed with improved specs, stunning design and impressive price tag.

In the previous year, Xiaomi had unveiled two editions of Redmi 2, the first version that carried the Redmi 2 moniker came with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM, and the second version that came with 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. However, Xiaomi has only one edition of the Redmi 3 smartphone.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is fitted with a 5-inch screen that supports a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels and is capable of producing a pixel density of 294 ppi. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 616 chipset. It includes a 1.5 GHz octa-core CPU and Adreno 405 graphics. The chipset is coupled by 2GB of RAM.

The Redmi 3 features an inbuilt storage of 16GB. The additional storage on the device supports up to 128GB of microSD. It is preloaded with MIUI 7.0 flavored Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The smartphone features a 13 MP camera that is equipped with phase detection autofocus feature. It is capable of focusing in just 0.1 seconds, 9 to 5 Google reported. The other features of the rear camera include LED flash and 1,080 pixels’ video shooting. It features a front-facing camera of 5 MP.

For connectivity, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 provides options like 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, a GPS. The dual-SIM smartphone comes with one SIM slot for a microSIM card whereas the other SIM slot is capable of supporting a nanoSIM card as well as a microSD card. It is packed with a huge battery of 4,100 mAh capacity.

The Redmi 3 sports a unibody metal construction that is styled with numerous diamond shaped patterns on the rear shell. It is available in colour options like gray, gold and silver.

The thickness of the smartphone is 8.5 mm and it measures 139.3 x 69.4 mm. The Redmi 3 weighs 144 grammes. In China, the smartphone is priced at 599 RMB (AU$130).
