China's Xiaomi has been making headlines following the series of succcessful releases from the company. Several reports previously have also acknowledged the company after it defeated Samsung in terms of Chinese market share in the past year. Even with the Xiaomi Note released far back, some still commend the company for coming up with such device earning Xiaomi the title of Apple's next big contender. Can Xiaomi really play up against Apple?

Often called the "The Apple of China," Xiaomi received international recognition after it was able to sell out its devices in minutes even seconds during its flash sales across China, India and Indonesia. After Hugo Barra, Google's ex-vice president of product management for Android, the sales of the company's products are predicted to go over $16 billion in 2015. Part of the success is the quality of the products versus their affordability.

Mashable even goes as far to say about its Note device: "There's absolutely no doubt the Mi Note was inspired by Apple's iPhones. If an iPhone 4S and 6/6 Plus shacked up and birthed a big smartphone the Mi Note would be it." The site further commends Xiaomi saying that it is rare to find an Android smartphone, highlight the fact that it is from China, to feel and look like a premium unit. Xiaomi succeeds in all aspects.

As if to further emphasize the brewing rivalry between Xiaomi and Apple, the former is also expected to release a similar wearable tech to the Apple Watch. Just after a few days following Apple's announcement, the Chinese tech giant appears to be getting even busier to compete with Apple in another product category. Website 36Krypton hinted that the Xiaomi Smart Watch will feature a large dial for pulse wave velocity identification. Other expected features include brushed metal design, thin design and NFC sensor.
