Xiaomi is speculated to unveil a variant that has a ceramic body for the Xiaomi Mi 6. Furthermore, it may come with the new Sony IMX 400 sensor.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is next in line to be released as Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship. Reports have indicated that the Mi 6 may have a dual camera setup. Furthermore, it will come in three variants. However, new information suggests that one variant may feature a ceramic body.

Ceramic body and new sensors

According to a recent leak, it is indicated that one of the suspected variants of the Xiaomi Mi 6 will have a ceramic body. Along with this, it may also become the first smartphone to feature one of Sony’s products, which is the Sony IMX 400 sensor. This will be used as the main sensor of the main camera of the Mi 6.

Beyond the ceramic body and sensor, it is also indicated that the phone may come in two variants instead of the speculated three. The two variants are said to have different display sizes, wherein one will be 5.15 inches and the other will be 5.7 inches.

Xiaomi Mi 6 specs

The leaks released from Chinese microblogging site Weibo and Mydrivers suggest that the phone will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 830 chipset. This chipset clocks at 2.5 GHz paired with a 4GB RAM, which indicates an increased overall performance. As it was mentioned earlier, the phone will also come in two variants with different display or screen size, which are 5.15-inch and 5.7-inch displays.

With the new leak in place, the Xiaomi Mi 6 may carry the Sony IMX 400 sensor for its main camera. However, there are speculations against this sensor to be in the Mi 6 as the sensor has been known to only be exclusive to Sony, according to MyDrivers. The said sensor that will be used in the Mi 6 may be the three-layered, stacked CMOS sensor that Sony has recently announced, according to GizBot.

Beyond this, the premium variant of the Mi 6 is also speculated to have a dual camera setup which was leaked recently via a sketch on Weibo. On the other hand, the upcoming flagship will feature full HD LCD display instead of the speculated OLED display.

Release date and pricing

The speculated release date of the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to be April 16. Its price is said to be around USD399, which is approximately AUD526.
