Xiaomi Mi 5C could be the first smartphone to come with the Pinecone processors. These are processors developed by Pinecone Electronics, owned by Xiaomi. Earlier reports had suggested a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip. This could of course be a regional thing with the west getting the Snapdragon processor whereas the east getting the Pinecone processor.

Until now, Xiaomi has relied upon Snapdragon and MediaTek's Helios to power up its devices. The news has been shared by Chinese website Weibo.

According to GSMArena, Xiaomi's in-house chipset Pinecone now has its own Weibo page. The initial release could feature two models, Pinecone 1 having an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, and the more powerful Pinecone 2 with four A73 cores and four A53 cores. The GPU could be made to the cutting edge 10nm process. Some reports have stated a Mali T860 MP4 GPU. The Xiaomi Mi 5C could launch with Pinecone 1. Other expected the specs to include a 5.5-inch display, very narrow bezels, 2.2 GHz octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The Xiaomi Mi 5C’s primary camera could be of 12MP while the front-facing secondary camera of 8MP. With a 3,200 mAh battery, the Mi 5C is expected to run on Android Marshmallow operating system with MIUI 8 on top. According to Gadgets 360, the smartphone is expected to launch in February, whereas the Xiaomi Mi 6 may launch in March or April. A fresh leak has suggested a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor for the Mi 6 flagship. The Mi 5C will not support fast charging and its Full HD display will come with 2.5D curved glass protection.

There are also reports of Xiaomi Mi 6 coming in two variants, one of which will sport a 6GB RAM and a dual edged curved body. Xiaomi has also announced that the Redmi Note 4X will launch in China on Wednesday. This device is expected to come with a 5.5-inch full-HD display, expandable inbuilt storage variants up to 64GB and a deca-core CPU with up to 4GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X is expected to have a fingerprint scanner at the back, 4,000 mAh battery, 13MP rear camera and will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
