A new storm of speculation now suggests Xiaomi will release its Mi 5 flagship smartphone in December. Fresh information says the Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet from March 2014 that got a good reception from users and critics is likely to be replaced by its successor, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2, as early as next month.

A handset named Xiaomi Gemini has been found listed on GeekBench’s benchmarks database. Word is the Xiaomi Gemini is the codename of the Mi 5 flagship smartphone. According to GeekBench report of the Xiaomi Mi 5, the handset will have the much expected Snapdragon 820 chipset and 3 GB of RAM onboard. It will come preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Speculations are also rife the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was certified in China the previous month. The GeekBench report of the Mi Pad 2 tablet has also surfaced, indicating the release of the tablet is close at hand. It’s revealed the tablet will be powered by the Intel X5-28500 chipset that will include a 2.4 GHz quad-core processor. It will be coupled by 2 GB of RAM and pack a native storage of 16 GB.

Unlike the Xiaomi Mi 5 expected to arrive with Android 6.0, the Mi Pad 2 is likely to come with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. According to Phone Radar, the tablet is also expected to carry both Windows and Android OS.

Like the original model, the Mi Pad 2 is expected to arrive with a 7.9-inch display. An earlier report from SJTS Gadgets suggested the Mi Pad 2 won’t feature the plastic build of the original model. Instead, it’s expected to arrive with a metal frame and a glass rear.

The tablet’s design is expected to be similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi Note flagship smartphone released at the start of this year. The placement of the selfie camera and the design of the curved glass will be similar to that of Xiaomi Mi Note.
