Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Mi 4c handset for its Chinese audience. The appearance as well as most of the tech specs of the handset are similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi 4i, which was launched in India.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c comes with a 5-inch screen that supports full HD resolution. It delivers a pixel density of 441 ppi. The handset is powered by Snapdragon 808 chipset. It is the same chipset that fires popular smartphones like the LG G4 and the Moto X Style, Phone Arena reported.

It comes in two internal storage models of 16 GB and 32 GB. The former model features 2 GB of RAM and the latter houses 3 GB of RAM. On its rear, there is a 13 MP shooter whereas the front features a selfie camera of 5 MP.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c is packed with a large battery of 3,080 mAh capacity that will carry support for Quick Charge 2.0. The smartphone features some interesting specs like a USB Type-C connector and an IR blaster to use the handset as a remote control for over 2,000 appliances.

The new Edge Tap feature makes the handset carry out different functions. If a user taps once on the edge of the device while the camera app is turned on, it will snap a photo. Tapping twice on the edge of the Xiaomi Mi 4c will allow the user to access the back function.

The pricing of the 16 GB model that comes with 2 GB RAM is RMB 1,299, which equates to US$204 or AU$287 according to current exchange rates. The 32GB model with 3GB of RAM is priced at RMB 1,499, which equates to US$235 or AU$331, according to current exchange rates.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c is available in colour options like white, grey, blue, yellow and pink. It will be available in China for purchase from Sept. 23.
