Good news for all ‘X-Men’ fans — a TV show loosely based on the characters from the original franchise has just popped up. They are calling it the “Legion.” For dummies, here is a tad of introduction. A mutant named David Haller (Dan Stevens) will be the prime attention of the show. It has been purported that the lad is son to the famous Charles Xavier and his wife Gabrielle Haller.

Not too long ago FX announced the show, and has already been slated for release this February. The premiere date for “Legion” season 1 has been settled for Feb. 8 this year. The makers simultaneously announced more “X-Men” TV series lined up for future releases. Apparently, the idea took shape after the franchise failed to make a mark with their last release, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” and as a matter of fact, they are now looking for audiences for the small screen.

Talking about David Haller, as published on IMDb, the character is a “haunted man with power beyond comprehension.” Also written is that David is a mentally unstable young man with numerous split personalities. It is believed each of the identities control a separate aspect of his powers.

“Legion” season 1 will see David struggling with his mental illness, trying to find his way back to sanity. He will be seen frequenting psychiatric facilities for years. A romantic angle has also been thrown into the mutant drama in the latter half, the effect of which is going to change David’s life for good -- for the good.

“Legion” executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner, in a recent interview with IGN, said the show is not about Professor Charles Xavier and his world of mutants, although loosely connected to “X-Men.” It will be based solely on David Haller, a schizophrenic, who happens to be the show’s main character.

“It's more, ‘Who is David?’ ‘Is David schizophrenic? Is he crazy? Or does he have powers?’ ‘We just don't want to get into the Xavier world, because that's not what this show is about’,” Donner said in the interview. “We're making it separate. We're our own world.”

“Legion” season 1 premieres in the US on the FX channel, Feb. 8 at 10PM ET. In Australia, the show will debut Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7:30PM AEDT exclusively on Foxtel.
