The latest “X-Men” reboot had a lot of fans of the comic book and cartoon franchise really excited. This time, more people would like to see a different take on everyone’s favourite gang of superheroes.

The next instalment, “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” now has a director in Simon Kinberg. Fans will once again get to see Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy reprise their roles. This time, Jessica Chastain will reportedly be joining as a major villain.

The title gives fans a hint on what to expect in terms of story, since Phoenix is one of the strongest and craziest superheroes in the entire Marvel universe. Sources say that “Dark Phoenix” will take place where it left off - in the 90s.

“X-Men First Class” was set in the 60s; “X-Men: Days of Future’s Past” in the 70s and “X-Men: Apocalypse” in the 80s. The 90s is a particularly special decade for fans of the franchise, notes Comic Book Movie. This is when the comic book was relaunched with the iconic costumes by Jim Lee, which would be carried over to the animated series.

This might mean that fans would finally see their favourite superheroes don their famous costumes instead of those generic jumpsuits they have been wearing all throughout the movies. Marvel movies are becoming more faithful to the source, which is probably a response to millions of fans calling for print-inspired productions. “Spider-Man” has been relaunched with an almost identical to the comic and cartoon costume, so this could mean that the “X-Men” would follow suit soon.

It is yet to be seen if the X-Men would indeed wear their iconic costumes. Storm could be wearing her white dress, Cyclops in his blue and yellow battlesuit, while the new Wolverine could be finally wearing the yellow costume. It is not yet known how they will look like in the upcoming film, but it has to be remembered that they were looking pretty good by the end of “X-Men: Apocalypse.” It would make perfect sense to upgrade their costumes, which fans have seen in the comic books and in the animated series.

The Marvel movieverse has already gone full blast since the “Avengers” premiered. There is a lot that they can offer to viewers. How they plan to do so is something to look forward to when “Dark Phoenix” comes out in November 2018.
