Previous reports claim Jean Gray, Storm and Cyclops will be recast in "X-Men: Apocalypse." However, with the movie set in the 1980's then a new batch of young actors would need to be cast to represent a younger version of the characters.

Producers are believed to already be eyeing a new set of young stars for the role of Cyclops, Jean Gray and Storm. Sources for Latino Review claimed Taron Edgerton ("Testament of Youth"), Jamie Blackley ("If I Stay") and Tye Sheridan ("Mud) are in contention to play as the young Cyclops. Sophie Turner ("Game of Thrones") and Saoirse Ronan ("The Host") as the young Jean Gray and Alexandra Shipp ("Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) and Zendaya Coleman ("Shake It Up") for Storm.

However, these names still warrant confirmation from the "X-Men: Apocalypse" producers. Even Taron Edgerton himself expressed his surprise at the casting during an interview. According to Comic Book Movie, the young star responded to the rumours during a Q & A session following the special screening of his movie "Kingsman: The Secret Service."

"I really can't comment on the Cyclops thing," he said.

"I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that [rumor] came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says that's very fun," he added.

Taron Edgerton didn't reveal further details regarding his supposed casting in "X-Men: Apocalypse." Likewise, he didn't exactly deny nor confirm the rumours. Instead, he claimed "everyone would like to play a superhero." The actor also seemingly defended his statement saying, "this by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops." Per Screenrant it's likely that Edgerton was at one point up for the role but has since moved on.

Jeff Sneider from The Wrap initially claimed sources knowledgeable about the "X-Men: Apocalypse" production have already confirmed that producers have eyed Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothée Chalamet for the role of young Cyclops. Even actress Chloe Moretz ("If I Stay") and Elle Fanning ("Maleficent") have reportedly already talked with movie director Bryan Singer to talk about their possible role as Jean Grey. However, all these casting remains a rumour until otherwise confirmed.
