Welsh actor Taron Egerton has recently revealed he is not playing Cyclops in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The actor who is long rumoured to play the part in the “X-Men” sequel has denied the reports saying he is not a part of “X-Men.”

“Yeah, I love the X-Men films, and I love that franchise, and I love the people who make them on and off screen, so yeah, I’d love to one day sometime but in this instance that rumour’s unfounded,” said the actor in his interview to MTV UK. Cyclops is a mutant who can emit powerful beams of concussive force from his eyes. He wears special eye gear, which helps him control the beams. He is a member of X-Men group and fights the evil for the safety of humanity. He has been portrayed by James Marsden in the slew X-Men films and by Tim Pocock in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is currently in its pre-production stage. Bryan Singer is directing the film and it stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Channing Tatum, Evan Peters, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy and others. The plot of the film is currently unknown though it is rumoured that Mystique (Lawrence) and Beast’s (Hoult) love story will be the focal point of the film.

“The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse,” said the film’s co-writer Simon Kinberg to Collider. The Friendship between Erik and Charles will also be explored in the Singer’s film. It has been a vital part of the franchise and it is going to get profound in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” “X-Men: Apocalypse” is scheduled to be released on May 19, 2016.

Meanwhile, Egerton, who is currently gearing up for the release of his new film “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” admitted if there was any superhero he would love to play, it would be Spider-Man. According to Screen Rant, the future of “Spider-Man” franchise is still unknown.
