Bryan Singer has been using social media to promote his new film, “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Recently, the movie director shared a behind-the-scenes look at what could be Storm’s hometown that gives a glimpse at the extent of the mutant’s power.

The photo was shared on Singer’s Instagram page on Wednesday, July 22, along with the caption, “Tip toeing through ruined #Cairo #1983 #xmen #apocalypse.” The set photo shows the director, with his hands on his pockets, looking down to his path as he walks carefully on a ground filled with bricks and small rocks.

The photo seems to suggest a massive attack had happened in the area. Crumbling buildings and discarded motorcycles and bicycles are piled up in the ruins. Some Arabic writings are also vandalised on the building’s façade and on a tent.

According to Superhero Hype, the Cairo location in “X-Men: Apocalypse” could have been set up for young Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. Storm. In the Marvel comics, the mutant was reportedly living off the streets of Cairo, pickpocketing people, after losing her parents to a plane crash when she was five.

It’s unclear what caused the ruins in Cairo. Fansided claims it could have been the work of Apocalypse in his attempt to recruit Storm. Fans also speculated that perhaps it was Storm exhibiting her powers to the people.

Alexandra Shipp plays the role of Storm in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The character was briefly shown in the film teaser released at the San Diego Comic-Con, which was unfortunately leaked online. Instagram user Marcaces shared the video on his page and told viewers to look at the corner of the footage to see Apocalypse accompanied by the young Storm. The video somehow confirms that En Sabah Nur is successful in recruiting the mutant to his team.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly also provided some still shots from the film. In this photo shared by Heroic Hollywood, Storm is accompanied by Apocalypse and Psylocke. The publication also provided a close-up look at Alexandra Shipp giving the camera a steely look in her Storm costume and makeup. The last set photo shows Bryan Singer talking to Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) while his X-Men recruit Storm stands beside him.
