Latina singer and birthday girl, Demi Lovato, has received one good gift for her 21st birthday after finalizing the deal for a major role in "Glee" Season 5.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the "X-Factor USA" judge landed a major role in Fox’s hit series and is all set to make an appearance as one of the show’s newest guest stars.

Demi plays the role of Dani, a struggling artist who was based in New York and has found a good friend in Rachel (Lea Michelle) and Santana (Naya River). Demi joins the series power house cast including, Adam Lambert who has also been confirmed to appear in recurring episodes for the upcoming season.

Demi is said to have a number of scenes with Adam, whose role in "Glee" Season 5 is yet to be announced. The Latina singer is said to have agreed to appear in six episodes, and the "American Idol" alumna will reportedly do some musical production numbers.

Her appearance in "Glee" marked Demi’s first acting project since Disney Channel series "Sonny With a Chance" wrapped up in January 2011. And since Demi is quite busy with her "X-Factor USA" project with Simon Cowell, Fox is working with her agency, Jonas Group and Ziffren Brittenham to ensure that there will be no conflict in Demi’s schedule.

Demi’s participation in the dramedy also marks the show’s first casting announcement since the death of one of its lead male star, Cory Monteith. The show will air its tribute for Cory on Oct. 10, but Season 5 kicks off on Sept. 26, Thursday, 9 p.m. "X-Factor USA" will debut its premiere episode for Season 3 from Sept. 2 to 3. Both shows air on Fox.

Demi celebrates her birthday today, Aug. 20, 2013. She turns 21.
