‘The X-Factor’ USA judge Demi Lovato has continued to stay strong following the death of her father, Patrick. The singer claimed that “putting [her] Daddy to rest may have been the hardest thing [she’s] ever done,” but was quick to note optimism out of the sad chapter of her life.

Demi had not spoken with her Dad for years, as she revealed in an interview with 2009. Growing up, her relationship with her father was not bed of roses and not every day was Christmas for both of them.

Her Dad left when his marriage with mom, Diana was no longer working in 1994. The “Heart Attack” singer was then raised by her mom and stepdad, Eddie de la Garza. Despite the happy childhood she had shared with her dad, Demi’s relationship with Patrick had been strained through the years. Until his death came to a shock for her and her millions of fans on June 22.

Taking to Twitter, Demi wrote that it was not easy, as he puts him to rest on Saturday, June 29, 2013.

Demi wrote: "Today I put my Daddy to rest…hardest thing I've ever done," adding with #LovatoTreatmentScholarship, "But I know great things will come of this."

Simon’s favorite girl on ‘X-Factor’ USA then later described her current state of mind, expressing great relief that her father had finally over his own battle as she said: ‘’There's an overwhelming sense of peace knowing my dad is no longer battling his demons anymore and that makes me so happy."
