Viewers of “The X Factor Australia” Season 7 were not shy to express their thoughts on social media site Twitter over the comment that series host Luke Jacobz made after contestant Cyrus Villanueva performed Justin Bieber’s song “Boyfriend” on Sunday night. Jacobz tried to crack a joke during the episode but it ended up as an awkward comment leaving Villanueva and viewers confused.

“Cyrus, I have a question for you, will you be my boyfriend?” Jacobz asked Villanueva after performing Justin Bieber’s single titled “Boyfriend.” The host’s attempt of injecting humour to the performance failed, drawing only silence from the audience and catching the “X Factor Australia” Season 7 contestant off guard. Some viewers of Seven Network’s reality TV music competition pointed out on Twitter that Jacobz turned the moment into an awkward one on live television while others wondered if the “X Factor Australia” host came out of the closet on national television. However, some viewers got the joke and defended the post-performance comment of host Luke Jacobz on Twitter.

“Ppl need to lay off @lukejacobz the "boyfriend" question was clearly a joke hosting in front of a live audience is bloody hard @kiis1065,” entertainment reporter for KIIS and Channel 10 media commentator John Caldwell posted on his Twitter account @johnmcaldwell.

Filipino-Aussie singer Cyrus Villanueva received high praises for his “Boyfriend” performance. “X Factor” judge James Blunt also praised the performance of contestant Jimmy Davis, who sang “Long Train Running” of the Doobie Brothers.

Meanwhile, Just Jared reports that Canadian singer Justin Bieber will be performing on “The X Factor Australia” on Wednesday. Bieber, 21, was spotted on Friday, Sept. 25, at the LAX airport. Click here to see photos.

Justin Bieber’s Australian trip schedule includes performances at the 2DayFM’s World Famous Rooftop in Melbourne on Monday. Aside from performing at “The X Factor Australia” on Wednesday, Bieber will also make a guest appearance at a Sydney Harbour concert.
