“X-Factor Australia” Season 7 grand finalist Cyrus Villanueva visited his hometown in Wollongong to spread the “Cyrus virus,” along with mentor Chris Isaak.

Villanueva acted as a tour guide for “X-Factor Australia” Season 7 judge and mentor Isaak when they went to Wollongong on Wednesday. The visit was a part of a hometown trip of “X-Factor Australia” contenders who made it to the grand finals round of the competition, Yahoo 7 TV reports.

The trip also gave Villanueva a chance to share to Isaak what his life was like before joining “X-Factor Australia.” Apart from giving a glimpse of his hometown, Villanueva also held an exclusive free concert for his fans in Wollongong.

The concert, held at the Crown Street Mall in Wollongong Central, was attended by a massive crowd, according to a Twitter post from Julian O’Brien, editor of Illawarra Mercury. Wollongong Lord’s mayor Gordon Bradbery was also at the event.

The mayor was “clearly bitten by the ‘Cyrus virus,’” Illawarra Mercury reported. Bradbery even described Villanueva as a “really nice guy.” The Wollongong official added, “He’s not only good looking … he’s a well rounded individual.”

The senior minister of the New Day Church in Figtree Frank Gottle also spoke highly of the “X-Factor Australia” contender. The senior minister, who has known the aspiring singer for eight years, told Illawarra Mercury that Villanueva is a “man of integrity.” He went on to compliment the Filipino-Australian singer, mentioning that Villanueva “has incredible character, [is] incredibly humble and extremely competent.”

Meanwhile, the concert was a success, with many of Villanueva’s fans coming out to meet him during the free concert. One fan, Jo Halios-Lewis, shared with Illawarra Mercury that she left her work early to watch the “X-Factor Australia” grand finalist perform, and she even brought her two children with her.

During the concert, Villanueva sang some of the hit covers he did in previous episodes of the “X-Factor Australia." He even shared the stage with his mentor Isaak, and both of them sang and played the guitar together. Illawarra Mercury described Villanueva’s performance as “wicked” and “amazing.”

The aspiring singer has been a fan favourite on “X-Factor Australia” Season 7 and has been impressing the judges with his vocal talents. Villanueva, along with Louise Adams and the duo Jess and Matt, are set to battle it out for the winning spot on the reality singing competition this coming week.

The two-part grand finals of “X-Factor Australia” Season 7 airs on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23 and Nov. 24, at 7:30 pm.
