After surviving the first live episode of “X Factor Australia” 2016 on Sunday, female trio AYA hints that they still have more to show on the upcoming rounds of the competition.

In a candid interview posted on the official Facebook page of “X Factor Australia,” the three girls – Cat, Vita and Calmel – shared the one thing that would make them stand out from the other finalists this season. “One of our secret weapons that we have up our sleeve is that we can all dance,” they say. “We all have experience in dancing, and no one knows that, so we’re just going to pull that out of the bag.”

The girl group hopes that their mentor, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, would give them a song to showcase their dancing skills. The three then gave a sneak peek of their moves, which clearly showed that they should stick to ballads and songs that require minimal movement.

AYA, originally known as Chai, won over the judges when they performed Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” as their audition piece. Iggy, however, advised them to change their name. “When I was 16 I was in a duo called Baby Laydee… it wasn’t for me,” she said, according to the “X Factor” Australia web site. “I don’t think Chai is for you.”

The three, who then called themselves Montage, won a spot in Iggy’s three seat challenge with their sassy rendition of “Break Free” by Arianna Grande. Despite their lack of movement, the girls definitely made up for it with their vocals. Apparently, it was enough – they managed to steal the seat from another girl group, Beatz, who’s now part of judge Mel B’s Underdogs category. Beatz admitted that AYA was their biggest competition, but reckoned that they could dance better.

During the first live show of “X Factor Australia” 2016, Cat, Vita and Calmel made their debut as AYA, a name that didn’t bode well with judges Guy Sebastian and Mel B. The three sang “Secret Love Song” by Little Mix, which earned a standing ovation from all four judges. While Guy and Mel B didn’t like their new name, they said that their performance was great – Guy even found it better than Beatz’s number. Fellow judge Adam Lambert, meanwhile, loved the girls’ solos but commented that the styling is a mess.
