The championships of the 2014 Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour will take place from October 17 to 26 in Singapore. Eight of the world's greatest female tennis players will be competing in the 44th edition of the singles event. Eight double teams will also be competing in the 39th edition of the doubles competition.

HOST CITY AND VENUE

The 2014 WTA Finals will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Singapore is the ninth city to host the event since its inauguration 42 years ago. The Southeast Asian nation will host the WTA Finals from 2014 to 2018. Previously, the tournament has been hosted in several U.S states (1972 - 2000), Germany (2001), Spain (2006 - 2007), Qatar (2008 - 2010), and Istanbul (2011 - 2013). In the singles event, the players will be drawn into two groups. They will compete in a round robin format. The top two players from each group will battle the top player from the other group. The winners will face each other in the finale.

In the doubles event, the players will play in a knockout format until the finals.

WTA LEGENDS EVENT

Four tennis greats will take part in the WTA Legends event. Previous Grand Slam champions will play in a best-of-three set double matches. They will partner with a different player for each session scheduled to take place on October 20, 22, and 23. The tennis legends who will participate in the event Iva Majoli, Tracy Austin, Marion Bartoli, and Martina Navratilova.

MARIAH CAREY CONCERT

Tennis fans who will buy their tickets for the WTA Finals will get a 10 percent off for Mariah Carey's one-night only show in Singapore. The concert will be staged at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on October 24.
