The red carpet affair of the 2012 Oscar Awards was an eventful part of the much-awaited ceremony, with stunts and bad dresses tainting the most glamorous dress-off in Hollywood.

The biggest, and probably funniest red carpet arrival of the night was Sacha Baron Cohen, who dressed up as his latest character, Admiral General Aladeen in 'The Dictator.'

It was originally released in a statement by the Academy that Cohen was banned from the red carpet on this year's show, but the actor is adamant on making a mockery out of the elegant and always-classy Oscar red carpet.

"I'm wearing John Galiano, but the socks are from K-Mart," says Cohen's persona as The Dictator when Seacrest asked who was responsible for his get-up.

Other red carpet failures include the young star, Shailene Woodley, who's noted for her portrayal in the best picture-nominated film, The Descendants. The actress wore a white, long-sleeved gown that made her look like a tasteless bride from the 70's. Not only is the look outdated, but the frills on the front panel didn't do wonders for her slim figure.

Viola Davis sported a green Vera Wang gown and looked more like a living room fixture during the holiday season than an A-list celebrity. Davis could have picked a better color than the sea foam green glow of the gown. On a positive note, the actress skipped on wearing a wig, promoting natural beauty on the cosmetic-ridden red carpet.
