World War Z has proven to be a successful film as it domestically earned $5.5 million during its opening week in 236 cinemas all over Australia. Despite negative publicity surrounding the production, it earned a total of $111.8 million worldwide.

If you were one of the fans who had eagerly waited for the release of Brad Pitt's zombie movie, then you know that the production had troubles during its filming. Even when Paramount Pictures and Plan B already released a trailer for World War Z, extensive reshoots had been made. A great chunk of the original plot was rewritten and a few minor scenes were added.

Movies.com revealed what could have happened if the original ending was chosen instead of Pitt finding out that humans can camouflage themselves against flesh-eating zombies. The ending for the original plot is way too different than the current, with Pitt not finding any cure. Sad, isn't it?

The big change happens after Gerry (Brad Pitt) and Segen (Daniella Kertesz) leaves Israel. Here are the top 10 parts of the original plot that could have changed the fate of the movie into the box office:

1. The airplane where Gerry and Segen boarded was originally bound for Moscow.

When the plane landed safely in Russia, they were collected by the military. The healthy people, including Gerry, were segregated from the elderly and sick. The latter were executed, Gerry's phone was confiscated by a nasty Russian soldier and he was drafted into armed service.

2. After an unknown amount of time, Gerry is armed with a "Lobo", a shovel-axe weapon.

By this time it's already winter and Gerry, now sporting a full beard, became one of the leaders of Russia's zombie-clearing squad tasked to clear subway tunnels nested by zombies.

3. Gerry made another close friend named Simon.

He and Simon spend their downtime by playing a guessing game of celebrities who would have survived the outbreak.

4. Gerry and team fights with zombies at the Battle of Red Square.

An intense tunnel combat scene happens and his team appears above ground in the middle of Battle of Red Square. The team gets reassigned to different front lines based on their religions. Gerry had to convince the general that his team can teach others how to use the Lobos and makeshift shields.

5. Gerry realizes that zombies are slower in winter.

After he convinces the general, he and Simon needs to go back to the tunnels and sneak past zombies. This is where Gerry notices that zombies move slower in Russian winter than the one he saw at Jerusalem. He finally realizes that the way to defeat zombies is by freezing their bodies.

6. Gerry and Segen reunite.

Gerry and Simon went back to inform the Russian command but sees the soldier who took his phone drinking with reluctant girls, one of which is Segen. He saves Segen by tossing a belt of grenades in the room while he, Segen and Simon hide behind the couch to survive the blast.

7. Gerry calls his wife Karin.

He was able to inform the general about the state of zombies in winter and told the him to extinguish all their fires and use the Russian winter to their advantage instead. He then drinks a few shots of vodka, and was able to talk to Karin using the phone he retrieved from the soldier. He explains the situation to his wife but Karin and their daughters are in a refugee camp in the Everglades.

8. Karin forms a kind of reluctant mutual relationship with a soldier.

The camp accepts survivors where one needs to trade something in order to survive, to which Karin trades herself but doesn't tell Gerry about the situation. After she hangs up the phone, it is revealed that she is in a kind of special relationship with a soldier who rescued them from the rooftop at the start of the movie.

9. Matthew Fox is in the movie.

Did you notice Matthew Fox as the soldier in the helicopter? He had a one-line role and appeared in the movie for five minutes. However, his appearance was cut short since number 8 did not happen. He's supposed to be Karin's new 'boyfriend'.

10. Gerry did not find a cure but instead was in a rage to go back to the U.S. to get his wife and daughters back.

Gerry learns about the situation, could not accept it and embarks on a mission to get Karin and his daughters. A montage shows him, Segen and Simon crossing different terrains until they end up in a boat and are off to Oregon. This is how the movie ends.
