Russia has announced its nuclear plans with its sights set on a building up a nuclear power plant in India. Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the country's nuclear plans amidst tensions in the Baltic Sea where Russian jets were spotted provoking NATO fighters to respond.

Vladimir Putin shared with PTI news agency in India that the country can build up to 25 nuclear units in the country. During his visit last Thursday, the president told the agency (via Itar-TASS): "Apart from building new energy units of the NPP "Kudankulam", we await the decision of the Indian government to allot a site for construction of a new Russian-designed nuclear power plant."

"Our resources enable us to build up to 25 energy units in India."

Nonetheless, Putin did admit that based on expert estimates, the nuclear units may not address the demands or needs of India as a dynamically developing economy. The president also noted that Russia is willing to discuss the potential of the product including further development in the field of nuclear.

The official further added that a document entitled "Strategic Vision of the Strengthening Russian-Indian Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Uses of the Atomic Energy" was in preparation for signing.
