Chris Pine’s character Steve Trevor in “Wonder Woman” will have a connection to the mythical land of Themyscira in the movie, according to a new report. The main villains and some important characters in the movie have also been revealed.

[Spoiler alert]

According to a report by Heroic Hollywood, sources have revealed that Pine will be playing the dual role of Steve Trevor and Trevor’s grandfather in the movie. One of the scenes apparently shows Trevor’s grandfather crashing into the mythical world of Themyscira. According to comic books, Themyscira is inhabited by Amazon women who were created by Olympian gods.

After crashing into Themyscira, Trevor will meet the goddess Diana. The event will mark the introduction of the mythical land to the rest of the world in the movie. In this timeline, Trevor will help Diana to defeat the main villain Ares and Trevor later dies.

After many years, Trevor’s grandson, also played by Pine, will get to meet Diana. The goddess will be able to recognise the striking similarity between Steve and the man she met many years ago.

It is still not clear who will get to play the roles of Ares and Diana in “Wonder Woman.” Producers are said to be evaluating actors Sean Bean and Nicole Kidman to be cast members in the movie. While Bean is being considered for the role of Ares, Kidman may get to play the role of the mythical character Hippolyta.

Ares will not be the only villain in the movie, according to the report. He will be helped in his plans by the sorceress Circe, a role that is also yet to be cast. The report also reveals that Ares will be the one who will train and mould Wonder Woman into a “fearsome warrior.”

Filming of “Wonder Woman” has already started and cast member Said Taghmaoui had recently shared a behind-the-scenes picture from the production set. The movie is being directed by Patty Jenkins and is slated to be released by June 2017.
