While the official release date for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” isn’t till May 19, a number of retailers in the United Arab Emirates broke the game’s street date, releasing copies early. The first reviews have also started coming in, and while impressions have been nearly unanimously positive, one bug-bear has been with the game’s performance on console, specifically on PS4, which is the review build most outlets received. The game’s developers have promised performance will be improved by launch.

While the PS4 builds of “The Witcher 3” sent to reviewers reportedly have the game’s day-one patch applied, a number of reviewers have expressed some disappointment regarding the game’s inconsistent framerate on console. The issue was highlighted by GameTrailers in its official review on YouTube, who noted that while the performance issues are minor in relation to the scale and beauty of the game, they are a disappointment.

Taking to Twitter, CD Projekt Red Community and Website Coordinator Marcin Momot stated that the developers have been working on optimising the console version of the game. He said the framerate and performance on PS4 have already been improved, adding that gamers will see the enhancements once the game is officially launched.

The news follows a cavalcade of impressive scores for “The Witcher 3,” and the developer’s recent announcement that the game had racked up over 1M preorders worldwide. CD Projekt Red Co-Founder, Marcin Iwiński took to the game’s official website to thank fans for supporting the team, promising that now that the main game was complete, the studio was moving on to development of the game’s two massive expansion packs.

“We would like to thank all the gamers for their trust and support. This is the last stretch and we’re pushing hard — over the last two weeks, we’ve increased performance on all platforms and started working full speed on the expansions, ‘Hearts of Stone’ & ‘Blood and Wine,’” he said.

Elsewhere, the official “Witcher” Twitter account informed fans that the game was now available for pre-load on GoG, Steam and Xbox. While it’s not currently available on PSN and Origin, the studio promises those will follow shortly. Following numerous delays to optimise and polish the game, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will finally be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 19.
