Tired of waiting for the release date of "Winds of Winter," fans of the popular book series are choosing to go online to speculate what is logically possible in the next book for Cersei Lannister after the events in the previous book. [Spoiler Alert]

Cersei Lannister is no longer in control in King's Landing, but the death of Kevan Lannister has complicated matters. Margaery Tyrell is in the custody of Randyll Tarly until her trial, and Jamie is far away with no interest to take command and rule.

After her public humiliation and atonement for her sins, will the High Septon of the Faith of the Seven allow Cersei to become queen regent in "Winds of Winter" once again? Some of the fans of the series at Westeros forum believe so.

Some of the forum members have pointed out that Varys wanted Cersei Lannister to take over the position of regent. He made the startling confession when he killed Kevan Lannsiter with a crossbow, the same kind of weapon used by Tyrion to kill his father.

Some of the forum members have suggested that Cersei will have a better chance of survival if she lets King's Landing drown in chaos and starvation while she makes way to her ancestral home in Casterly Rock along with her son, the king. This strategy would leave Tyrells in control of the problems in King's Landing while she enjoys real power through her son, even if she is not at the capital.

Cersei may find that her son may not be that pliable after her confessions. Perhaps the biggest hindrance would be the revelation of her plot to get the king's new bride arrested. The other option for her is to let the Tyrells take control in "Winds of Winter."

Some of the fans speculate that there is a good chance for Cersei to become regent if the High Septon of the Faith of the Seven agrees. This would be made possible if the High Septon turns out to be an agent of Varys. In any case, Cersei is in a very precarious situation in "Winds of Winter" with the threat of an invasion by Aegon Targaryen.
