Will the White Walkers launch their invasion on Westeros in "Winds of Winter"? Fans of the series have for long waited to see what is really beyond the Wall in the world of the White Walkers, also known as the Others. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]

The kingdoms of Westeros are in chaos after long wars for the Iron Throne. Many of the claimants to the position of king are now dead, but with Stannis Baratheon still alive, the war will not end. The wars, however, have resulted in food shortages in many cities of Westeros. According to some of the members of Westeros forum, the White Walkers will launch their attack when the human world is at its weakest.

Perhaps the one thing the White Walkers are waiting for is the arrival of winter. The climate in the fantasy world of the seven kingdoms is very different, where winters can last for years. "Winds of Winter" may be the perfect book for the onset of winter and the arrival of the Others.

Some of the fans believe that the climate will be of some significance if a battle between the White Walkers and the dragons of Daenerys were to take place. Some of the fans also believe that when the final battle between the dragons and the Others comes, Daenerys will have lost one or two of her dragons.

Some of the fans point out that the notion of dragons saving the day in a battle against the White Walkers is too obvious for George R. R. Martin to use. The author is better known for shocking twists and unexpected plot lines. Some of the fans predict that the saviours may turn out to be the children of the forest.

One crucial element that a fight against the White Walkers will need is information. Very little is known about the Others and their weakness, apart from fire and Dragonglass being able to stop them. Some of the fans predict that either Bran or Benjen Stark may be able to provide crucial information to defeat the White Walkers in "Winds of Winter."
