“Winds of Winter” author George R.R. Martin is supporting a charity fund raising drive named “Bookworm” to help fight cancer. People who donate get a chance to win a box full of signed books, which include books written by Martin.

In his latest blog entry, Martin described his current mood as “determined” as he wrote about the charity fund raising drive that helps cancer research. The funds are being raised by R.A. Salvatore, who is also an author.

The donations can be made at See Caity Run. Salvatore is donating some of his own books and the people who donate can get a chance to own signed copies of “Archmage” and “Maestro.” Some of Martin’s books and books he co-authored that are a part of the box are “Tuf Voyaging,” “The Ice Dragon,” “Hunter’s Run,” “Shadow Twin” and “Windhaven.”

Some of the other authors whose books are in the box are Jason Denzel, Trent Zelazny, Jane Lindskold, Joe R Lansdale, Christie Golden, Troy Denning, Erin M Evans, Paul S Kemp, Erik Scott de Bie, Todd Lockwood, Terry Brooks, Ed Greenwood, Richard Lee Byers, Shawn Speakman and Kevin J Anderson.

None of the books from “A Song of Ice and Fire” are featured in the list. Five books in the series have been released already and Martin is still working on the sixth book in the series titled “Winds of Winter.”

The donations start from $10 (about AU $13) for 1 chance to win the box. $40 (About AU $52) give 4 chances, $100 (about $130) give 10 chances, $200 (about AU $260) give 20 chances and so on. The donated money goes directly to Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

While Martin pledged a set of his books for the cancer research, he did not give an update on the progress of “Winds of Winter.” With the “Game of Thrones” Season 6 premiere just a few days away, some of the fans are worried that the show will spoil some of the events in the book.
