Around 20 Nokia Lumia smartphones are eligible to the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update from Microsoft. Know the status in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States, and the steps to download and install the software.

Nokia Lumia Cyan Status

Nokia Lumia Cyan update is now available to various territories worldwide including Asia, Europe and the United States.

Australian network carriers support the Nokia Lumia Cyan update and users can expect the Windows Phone 8.1 update soon. The software is currently under testing phase on Telstra, Vodafone and Optus for the following handset models:

- Lumia 520

- Lumia 620

- Lumia 625

- Lumia 720

- Lumia 820

- Lumia 920

- Lumia 925

- Lumia 1020

- Lumia 1320

- Lumia 1520

In New Zealand, Telecom and Vodafone are also testing the Lumia Cyan update for the following models:

- Lumia 520

- Lumia 625

- Lumia 820

UK network carriers and retailers such as Three, Everything Everywhere, Vodafone, O2 and Virgin Mobile are putting the Lumia Cyan update on testing phase for the following models:

- Lumia 920

- Lumia 925

- Lumia 1020

But some models are now receiving the Nokia Cyan Update including Lumia 625 open variant, O2 and Vodafone, Lumia 925 from O2 and Vodafone in UK.

For Canadian users, Chatr Wireless, Koodo, PC Mobile, Rogers and Telus are now testing the firmware for the following models:

Download and Installation of Lumia Cyan

Download and installation of Lumia Cyan update is relatively easy and can be accessed on the Lumia device.

1. A notification will prompt the user about the update if the device is connected to the Internet. If not, go to Settings > Phone Update to check for any available firmware.

2. Tap the notification message in order to view and install the update. Instructions will be provided on the display and users can postpone the update anytime.

3. Once the user agrees to install the update, the process may take from 15 to 30 minutes however, major firmware updates can take up to two hours to complete depending on the device model.

It is recommended to download the update using Wi-Fi connection rather than mobile data and do not worry if the device restarts during the update process - it is completely normal.
