Microsoft might decide to launch the Windows 10 before summer ends, according to CNET. Contrary to the company’s earlier announcement that their newest operating system will be out sometime this summer – which others have immediately assumed will be by mid-September – an insider has revealed that the OS will actually debut in late July.

Just last month, Lisa Su, the CEO of Advanced Micro Devices, accidentally gave away details that the Windows 10 will launch late in July. Since the slip-up, there has been no confirmation regarding this news, until famous Russian leaker, Wzor, posted a confirmatory message on social media.

According to Wzor, Windows 10 RTM has already been confirmed for a July 2015 release. RTM means Release to Manufacturing, and it refers to a certain version of the OS that is oftentimes sent to PC makers, as well as manufacturers, for beta testing. These chosen few will be testing out the new operating system before they are officially rolled out to Microsoft’s latest string of devices.

Normally, the final product does not usually make its way to the market until months later, after the testers have finished coursing through the RTM version, looking for bugs.

Wzor has always had a very good track record when it comes to leaking important tech information, but his latest confirmation sounds a bit unlikely.

It must be noted that in 2009, the Windows 7 RTM was sent out in July and the consumer product rolled out in October. The same happened with the Windows 8 RTM in 2012. It was out in August and the final OS was out by October. That said, if the rumors of Microsoft’s planned summer release date for the Windows 10 is true, then that could only mean manufacturers only have a few weeks to complete the entire check, before the final version is rolled out.
