Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su of AMD hinted the launch date of Windows 10 around the end of July. Users must know the innovation provided by the new computing OS in both software and hardware support.

Start Menu And Customisation Options

Windows 10 features a user interface based from Windows 7 and Windows 8 with the Start menu for ease of use. According to InfoWorld, the new OS sports some customisation options such as resizing of the Start menu, pinning entries to a list, drag to group or ungroup tiles and changing the sizes of each tile.

Avatar Application For Xbox

Microsoft announced the upcoming Avatar app on Windows 10 to enable users to change or create Xbox avatar. Moreover, users can access the store to purchase digital upgrades for aesthetic enhancement. Avatar app is connected to the gamercard which stores any changes on the avatar and will automatically appear on Xbox console.

Another Browser From Project Spartan

Internet Explorer is likely available in Windows 10 located under the Windows Accessories but users can access another default browser from Project Spartan. Project Spartan takes form as an app according to initial reports having its own window, Adobe Flash Player settings, Reading View for smaller screens and support for Cortana.

Changing Modes Via Continuum

Another feature expected is the Continuum which enables a user to switch between Desktop and Tablet mode. Desktop mode is the default user experience dependent on mice and keyboards while Tablet mode gives the touch-based experience. Adaptation between these modes will likely be the issue among users depending on how machines are used in everyday tasks.

Virtual Desktops Are Now Native

Windows 8 users are required to download third-party software such as VirtuaWin to enable Virtual Desktops. Virtual Desktops maximise multitasking by enabling several desktops running different set of applications. It is also very useful for users desiring to utilise several monitors at once. Windows will now support Virtual Desktops as native feature so users won’t download other software.

Hardware Capabilities Expected From Windows 10

Several hardware capabilities are expected to be native on Windows 10 such as 64-bit processing, support on advanced hard disk drives, RAM and video cards. But there some notable support users would like to get from the new OS:

1. Optimised support for new video cards from AMD and NVIDIA. This is essential for hard-core 3D gamers who would like to play the latest titles on the latest Windows OS.

2. DirectX 12 stability for all applications. It is expected to be released in July 2015 supporting graphic cards from AMD and NVIDIA.

3. Adaptability on low to middle-range machines. Some users will likely want to experience Windows 10 without expending too much.
