Microsoft will roll out its Windows 10 Mobile software in December. The firm made the announcement after users asked about the official release of Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system on the Lumia webpage following the Windows 10 Devices event.

In response to those posts, the Lumia team confirmed on Facebook that the Windows 10 Mobile software will be available to other devices, including mobile phones, by the end of this year. Before that, the newly announced flagship smartphones -- Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL with Windows 10 Mobile out of the box -- will be in the market in November.

Microsoft’s official website listed the Lumia phones that will receive the free Windows 10 Mobile upgrade. It’s mandatory to have minimum 8 GB of internal storage to avail of the latest software update.

“It is our ambition to make an upgrade available for majority of Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1”, said Microsoft.

The upgrade will be available to all the Lumia smartphones running Lumia Denim (OS version 8.10.14219.341) or later, including Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930.

It will bring new improvements and resolve key issues. It’s likely that not every phone will support the entire range of Windows 10 features, however.

“Windows 10 is available on PCs and tablets now, and while Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL ship with Windows 10 for phones, broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December”, said the Lumia team on Facebook.

It’s noteworthy that Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed the official date of the release. Users need to keep in mind that the software update won’t get to all the devices at once. The gradual roll out will be staggered and might take few days.
