Reigning French Open champion Stan Wawrinka and Frenchman Richard Gasquet will clash in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Wimbledon Championships at the All England Club on Wednesday. It is the second third time that both players will meet on professional tour, which is their second in grand slam events.

Wawrinka has made it to the last eight at the All England Club for the second time in his career after defeating No. 16 seed David Goffin 7-6 7-6 6-4. He snagged straight-sets win over the German at No. 1 Court on Monday. The Swiss, who has yet to drop a set in the tournament, played two tiebreaks against Goffin. He fired 13 aces and 44 winners to dismiss Goffin in the match that lasted two hours and 22 minutes. Last year, Wawrinka also made it in the last eight, but lost to ensuing finalist and fellow compatriot Roger Federer 3-6 7-6 6-4 6-4.

“I’m really happy with the victory, especially in three sets,” Wawrinka, who became the 24th player in the Open Era to reach more than one quarterfinals in grand slam events. Last season, Wawrinka made it in three quarterfinals of the grand slam tournaments including winning his first slam at the Australian Open. “I’m happy to get through, it’s an important victory for me.”

Wawrinka will play Gasquet for a place in the last four. Gasquet advanced in the tournament after beating Australia’s Nick Kyrgios on No. 2 Court in less than three hours. It was the first time that Gasquet had played four sets in the tournament after dropping the third set to the 26th seed Canberra-native. Gasquet is making his first-ever quarterfinal appearance since he made it in the semifinals of the 2013 US Open when he lost champion Rafael Nadal to 6-4 7-6 6-2.

It is the second time that the two will play in a grand slam event. They met for the first time at the Association of Tennis Professionals 1000 Masters event in Paris, in which Gasquet won 7-5 6-1. Their last clash was two years ago in the fourth round of the Roland Garros when the Swiss settled their series and won 6-7 4-6 6-4 7-5 8-6. Wawrinka and Gasquet are tied in their series at 1-1.
