For the 13th time in his career, Roger Federer has reached the quarterfinals at the All England Club. The Swiss beat Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets 6-2 6-2 6-3 on Monday to reach the last eight. Federer will battle with Gilles Simon, who upset Czech tennis star Tomas Berdych 6-3 6-3 6-2.

After seeing off Bautista Agut at Centre Court on Monday, Federer is now 9-0 on grass. He scored 38 winners compared to the Spaniard’s 14. He fired seven aces and had 12 unforced errors to advance in the quarterfinals.

In Federer’s bid to win an eighth Wimbledon trophy, the 33-year-old father-of-four said that he got “things figured out.” Federer, who had an extra week off to regain his strength after claiming his eighth trophy at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, said via Wimbledon.com that the little break had certainly helped him going into SW19.

“Having the extra week helped me to be perfectly prepared for Wimbledon,” Federer said. “So I think less question marks going into this tournament.”

The 13th-ranked Simon raced for a place into the quarterfinals after dismissing Nicolas Almagro, Blaz Kavcic, fellow compatriot Gael Monfils, and Berdych in the early rounds. The 30-year-old has already played 15 sets in the tournament. Simon’s quarterfinal place is the best performance that he has achieved at the All England Club. Since making his debut in 2006, Simon has never gone past the fourth round until now.

It will be Federer and Simon’s first meeting at the All England Club, but Federer leads their head-to-head series 5-2. The Swiss had won all the matches in their last five clashes, with their most recent meeting taking place in the final of the Association of Tennis Professionals 1000 Masters tennis event in Shanghai last year.

The upcoming quarterfinal match will be the third time that Federer and Simon will meet in a grand slam tournament. They met in the second round of the 2011 Australian Open and in the fourth round of the 2013 French Open. Federer needed five sets to beat the Frenchman in all their previous grand slam meetings.
