The seedings for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships have been announced. The top three men in the latest world rankings by the Association of Tennis Professionals, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray claimed the top three in men’s seedings, while two-time champion champion Rafael Nadal was seeded 10th attributed to his recent struggles in tournaments.

The seedings, except for a few, are primarily anchored in the latest rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals. Since losing to the finals of the 2015 French Open to Stan Wawrinka, the Serbian World No. 1 Djokovic opted not to play in any tournaments leading up to the grand slam grass event at the All England Club.

Seven-time champion Federer followed Djokovic in the men’s seedings at the second spot. The grass court is Federer’s best surface and Wimbledon could give the Swiss another opportunity to win a grand slam title, which he last won his seventh Wimbledon title in 2012. Since then, the 17-time grand slam champion has only made one grand slam finals and that was during the 2014 Wimbledon when Djokovic beat him in a thrilling five-setter match. Federer is coming off from claiming his eighth title at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle.

Murray, undoubtedly one of the favourites, is seeded third. The British tennis star just won his fourth Aegon title at Queen’s Club.

Nadal has, so far, endured a gloomy season. His recent struggles had cost him a low seeding at the Wimbledon Championships at the 10th seed. Nadal, who won the title in 2008 and 2010, failed to progress at the All England Club in his last three participations in the tournament. He suffered early exits and beaten in the fourth round by Nick Kyrgios (2014), first round by Steve Darcis (2013), and second round by Lukas Rosol (2012). Nadal’s 10th seeding could set him a potential clash with Federer and Murray in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, French Open champion, Kei Nishikori, and Tomas Berdych are seeded fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively. David Ferrer and Milos Raonic traded places, with the Spaniard being the eighth seed and Raonic moving up to seventh spot. Other players to watch are Grigor Dimitrov, Marin Cilic, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who are positioned outside the top 10 seedings.
