“Will & Grace” revival was confirmed after NBC announced about the same at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Wednesday. The Emmy award-winning series would be returning to the small screen almost after after more than a decade. Here’s what we know so far about the forthcoming season.

Number of episodes

NBC announced during the winter press tour that it has ordered 10 new episodes of the American sitcom, which originally ran from 1998 to 2006. So far, there is no word if there will be another season after this.

Air date

The makers of the show have not announced a fixed date for the launch of the new season. However, they said that it will be launched during 2017–2018.

Rumours led to season 9

President of NBC Entertainment Jennifer Salke said that when the cast of the show reunited to design a campaign for 2016 elections, rumours went rife if another season of the show was on cards. Furthermore, fans were excited to see the cast reunite. Salke said that this is what caught NBC’s attention. Thereafter, talks about a new season began in September last year.

Cast

All members of the main cast will return for “Will & Grace” revival, including Eric McCormack (Will Truman), Debra Messing (Grace Adler), Megan Mullally (Karen Walker) and Sean Hayes (Jack McFarland). Furthermore, Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will be returning as showrunners and James Burrows as director.

Timeline

It is not certain as of now if the story of season 9 will be taken forward from it was left 11 years ago or it will revive 11 years after the events of the last episode. Furthermore, the possibility of a new take on the story by completely disregarding the previously established continuity cannot be ignored.

Reminiscing last season

  • Karen ended up being broke. In the finale episode of the last season, it was revealed that Karen’s husband did not have money of his own and it was borrowed. She ended up being broke with no cash.
  • Jack turned rich. Jack, who was dating Beverley Leslie (Leslie Jordan), became rich after her death. He was also supporting Karen financially.
  • Grace became a mother. Grace and Leo (Harry Connick Jr) became parents. They were raising baby Lisa together.
  • Will and Vince are also raising a toddler. Will and Vince D’Angelo (Bobby Cannavale) were also raising a child together in the last season. The baby boy was named Ben.

“Will & Grace” revival will premiere by the end of the year 2917 or in 2018. The air date and time for US or Australia has not been announced yet.
