The police official involved in the Chris Brown community service review has stepped down from post, barely a week after the 23-year old rapper appeared in court following complaints that the submitted documents have been manipulated.

Richmond, Virginia Chief of Police, Bryan Norwood has officially resigned from the office Tuesday after he was embroiled in the community service scandal faced now faced by Brown.

A report by the TMZ quoted by bet.com. has been quoted as saying that Norwood has reached “a mutual agreement” with the mayor of Richmond that led to his resignation.

As the Chief of the Probation Department of Richmond Virginia, Norwood is on top of the community service program undertaken by Brown, following the order of the courts. The veteran was the recognized officer designated to the case, but Norwood has allegedly taken a “personal interest” in Brown’s community work.

IBTimes AU reported last week that LA County District Attorney Jackie Lacey has asked the court to order Brown to complete his civic obligation following the singer’s failure to provide the court a “credible, competent or verifiable evidence.”

A 19-page motion has been filed by Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray asking the court not to honor Brown’s community labor report because of “discrepancies indicating at best sloppy documentation and at worst fraudulent reporting.”

Concerns have been raised on the credibility of the dates listed on the community service report. There were allegedly some dates indicating working schedule (but) while he could be out of the country for world tour concerts, among others.

Following Brown’s court appearance last week, the court has suggested that the singer complete the service requirement in Los Angeles where he is currently based. The court earlier instructed and agreed to let Brown to fulfill the community service “in his home state of Virginia, as part of a five-year probationary sentence for assault.” The order stemmed from the assault incident involving his girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009.

At the hearing, Rihanna was on Chris’s side, even reportedly blowing him a kiss while the embattled R& B singer was dealing with the case.
